Update on Re-Gathering by Reservation

At this point, we plan to continue our current on-campus schedule of two worship services at 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. at least through Sunday, July 26.

We will continue the livestream of the worship service at 11:00 a.m. each Sunday as well.

Of course, we will also continue to monitor the guidance of our governing authorities and the data regarding the coronavirus in our Middle Georgia region.

Here’s the participation report for the first four Sundays of our re-gathering by reservation:

Here are the details you need to know as you consider participating in worship at Ingleside during the remaining Sundays of July.

Worship only at 9:00 and 11:00 a.m.  There will be two worship services only on each Sunday in July.  We will not have childcare, age-group programming, or adult classes or groups.

By reservation only.  In order to practice social distancing, we will limit attendance to 400 worshipers in each service – 25% of the seats in our worship center.  You may make your reservation online here.

Social distancing.  Consistent with guidance from our Governor and the Centers for Disease Control, we will practice social distancing – seated every other row with four empty seats between households; no handshakes, hugs, fist bumps, or high fives.

Face coverings.  Consistent with guidance from our Governor and the Centers for Disease Control and as an expression of love and thoughtfulness for others, we strongly encourage everyone to wear face coverings.

Increased sanitation.  Consistent with guidance, thorough disinfecting will occur (armrests, door handles, etc.) between services.  Bathrooms will have continual cleaning throughout the morning.

Livestream worship continues.  We plan to continue the livestream each Sunday for the foreseeable future.  That way those who think it unwise for them to come to campus for health-related reasons or because they don’t prefer social distancing can continue to worship by livestream at home.

Start small, scale up.  We currently plan to have two services each Sunday throughout the month of July.  If appropriate, we hope to increase our Sunday programming in August.  As always, we will evaluate week by week, make adjustments, and communicate appropriately.

Joyful, but not normal.  We hope there will be lots of joy as we re-gather for in-person worship on campus.  But we also know that it will not feel normal.  It will not be the experience to which we were accustomed prior to March 15.  These are just the first steps back.

Questions and feedback.  More detailed information about how we plan to re-gather is available here.  Please direct your questions and feedback to Andy Johnson, our Executive Pastor, or any of our church staff.  Every suggestion will be carefully and prayerfully considered.  We are in this together!

Prizing and protecting unity.  As we negotiate these uncharted waters, I hope you will join me in renewing your personal commitment to walk in “humility and gentleness with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (Ephesians 4:2-3, ESV).

Gathering in Jesus’ name is good for us, commanded in Scripture, and honors God (Hebrews 10:24-25).  So, we are committed to gathering for on-campus worship – wisely, safely, and one step at a time.

I’m very grateful for your prayers and your partnership in the gospel.  I’m confident that the church of Jesus Christ will prevail, and that the best is yet to come!
