Plans for the Picnic?
When the Bible describes the fellowship enjoyed by the first Christ followers, it says that they “ate together with glad and sincere hearts” (Acts 2:46, NIV). The conversation and love shared over a meal have been part of authentic Christian community from the very start.
One event that brings hundreds of Inglesiders together for a relaxed, joy-filled meal is our annual Church Picnic. I hope you have already marked your calendars and are planning to be here on Wednesday night, June 24. Not only is there good food, but there is good conversation, singing, praying, mission team commissioning, sharing the Lord’s Supper, and the celebration of believer’s baptism.
If you haven’t attended our church picnic before, you may have some questions about it. Here are a few you may ask:
Where is the picnic held? Again this year, our picnic will be held on our church campus on Wimbish Road. We will have huge tents set up on the west side of our worship center
What time does it start? Folks start to arrive as early as 5:00 p.m. for fellowship. Dinner begins at 6:00 p.m. The Lord’s Supper and baptism follow dinner.
What should I bring? The meal will be provided by our Ingleside food service team, so you won’t need to bring any food. Seating is provided around tables under the big tent, but you may want to bring a lawn chair with you as well (for the baptism time around the lake).
What should I wear? Come dressed casually. This is an outdoor event, so wear something cool and comfortable—and modest!
What else happens at the church picnic? Following our meal, we will have a great time of singing, we will commission some mission teams, and then celebrate the Lord’s Supper. Then, we’ll gather around “Lake Ingleside” where our Ingleside pastors will baptize all who want to publicly confess their faith in Jesus Christ. (If you want to be baptized, contact Hannah in our Membership Office, 477-7251.)
Whether the Church Picnic is an annual event for your family or if this year would be your first time to come, you won’t want to miss this great time of fellowship and celebration with our Ingleside family. I look forward to seeing you here!
Your Pastor and Friend,
