New Worship Pastor, New Worship Service
I am pleased to report that Clay Scott has accepted my invitation to join our Ingleside staff as our Contemporary Worship Pastor. His first day on our team will be Monday, June 1.
If you were not able to meet Clay when he was with us last month, let me tell you a bit about him. He is a 2010 graduate of Mercer University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in music with specialties in guitar and voice.
A native Georgian, for the past two years he has served as the Worship Pastor at First Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia. Prior to that, Clay traveled with his band (The Key) and led worship in a variety of venues around the country. Clay’s wife is Rachel, and they have two preschool children.
As a result of Clay coming to our team, we will be moving full speed ahead toward beginning our new, contemporary worship service. The “musical heart language” of that service would be guitar-led, band-driven, with a vocalist or two. The song choices would typically be more contemporary.
The anticipated launch date of the new service is Sunday, September 13, 2015 (the Sunday after Labor Day). It will be at 11:00 a.m. each Sunday morning in our Multi-Purpose Gym.
Once in place, our new Sunday morning worship schedule would be as follows:
Time Musical Heart Language Venue
8:30 a.m. Traditional Chapel
9:40 a.m. Blended Worship Center
11:00 a.m. Blended Worship Center
11:00 a.m. Contemporary Multi-Purpose Gym
The teaching in each service would be the same, but in the contemporary service it would typically be by video.
Why are we adding this new service? As the Apostle Paul wrote, we “do it all for the sake of the gospel” (1 Corinthians 9:23, ESV). The goal is more worshipers who become fully-devoted disciples of Jesus Christ – all for the glory of God!
I am grateful to be on this journey with you and am confident that the best is yet to come!
Your Pastor and Friend,
