The images in Isaiah 54 are striking. “Enlarge the place of your tent,” God says to his people. “Let the curtains of your habitations be stretched out; do not hold back, lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes.”
For a nomadic people, it was an exhortation to prepare for the growth and expansion that would accompany God’s favor and blessing.
Have you noticed? Just such a season of growth and expansion is occurring at Ingleside. Our tent is enlarging. We are lengthening our cords and strengthening our stakes. Consider just three indicators.
Christmas Joy. This past weekend we welcomed to our campus and shared the gospel with more people than ever before on a Christmas musical weekend. Attendance was an amazing 6,572 people over the course of the five presentations of The Joy of Christmas. That’s almost 1,100 people more than the 5,476 we reported last year – a 20% increase. Special thanks to Jonathan Green and our entire Worship Arts team for excellent leadership!
Contemporary Worship. Clay Scott joined our team in June, and we launched our new contemporary worship service on September 13. After the first thirteen weeks, the new service is averaging 284 worshipers each Sunday. And, overall worship participation in all services is up by 101 worshipers – a 5.3% increase. Special thanks to all who are helping to pioneer our new service. It resumes on Sunday, January 3.
Young Adult Ministry. Just this week we welcomed Blake Jenkins to our team as our first Young Adult Pastor. In this role he will focus on ministry with young adults in the 18-29 age range. Blake is a recent graduate of Beeson Divinity School at Samford University in Birmingham. He and his wife, Becca, just moved here from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where he was a key leader in a thriving college ministry. Join me in offering a warm welcome and pray God’s favor on this significant expansion of our commitment to make disciples among young adults.
As our gospel influence and ministry reach grows, the financial investment required to fund it grows as well. For those of you giving generously already to support the work of the Lord at Ingleside, I am very grateful for your financial partnership. God is honoring your investment.
For those not yet giving generously, I encourage you to join us in giving a tithe or more of your income to the General Fund at Ingleside. These gifts enable our ministries with every age and life stage (from preschoolers to senior adults) and across all our purposes (worship, evangelism, fellowship, discipleship, ministry, and missions).
I am grateful for your partnership in the gospel during this season of growing gospel influence. And, as you know, I am convinced that the best is yet to come!
