Is it Time for You to Come Back?

We resumed in-person, on-campus worship at Ingleside on Sunday, June 14.  So far, so good. We practice social distancing, face coverings are strongly encouraged, room capacity is limited to 25%, and reservations are required (make your reservations here). So I have a question:  is it time for you to come back? Thom Rainer, a leading church researcher, recently wrote that for most churches “somewhere between 20 and 30 percent” of pre-pandemic worshipers will likely never...

Next Steps on the Wise Way Forward

So far, God has honored our efforts to wisely and safely re-engage in-person, on-campus ministry at Ingleside. We have deliberately taken an incremental approach.  Instead of cannon-balling off the diving board into the deep end, we have purposefully waded back into the water a step at a time – assessing, evaluating, and asking the Lord’s wisdom with each step we take. You may remember that we began regathering for worship on June 14, Weekday Preschool and Mothers Morning Out...

Help for Parents in the Pandemic

If you are a parent, I suspect you could use some fresh encouragement, inspiration, and insights as you love and lead your children . . . especially through some of the unique challenges presented by the pandemic. That’s why we are offering a virtual parenting conference this Sunday, August 30, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.  More information about the 10 workshops being offered is here. The conference is free, but registration is required.  You may sign up here. A two-hour investment this...

See you Sunday?

I’m looking forward to being back in worship with our church family this Sunday, August 23, and I hope to see you in worship too! Either be part of one of our in-person services at 9:00 or 11:00 in the Worship Center (you may make your reservation here), or join us for the livestream (on our website, Facebook, or YouTube). Now that summer rhythms are giving way to school schedules, make sure and put Sunday worship back into your weekly routine. God is honored and we benefit when...

A School Year Like No Other

Across the coming month or so, we’ll see every school at every level re-start with in-person, remote, and hybrid models on the table. With most students not being in a classroom setting for almost five months now, the next four or five weeks are sure to be an experiment! You may not be approaching this coming fall like you have others. In previous years, you’ve not had to ask questions like: ... How many masks should I send with my child to school? ... What will our school...

So, What’s Next?

Did you read the school’s announcement? Can I tell you about my work arrangements? Did you hear the latest speech from the Governor or President? What did the coach communicate about practice? Have you heard any of these questions lately? I’m almost certain you’ve asked these and more. My family asks them virtually every day. We are looking toward the “next step” in practically every area of life – at church as well, where the very nature of our existence is infused with the...

Celebrating and Anticipating

Most summers, we host Xtreme Week where about 700 boys and girls and 250 leaders come to Ingleside for a week of music, games, Bible teaching, missions, and crafts. For many children, it’s the best week of their summer! Though we were not able to host Xtreme Week as we have in the past, I’m delighted to celebrate an excellent “Virtual” Xtreme Week that occurred last week. A little over 250 preschoolers and children participated – some from other parts of the country! The...
