Called to Serve (So Will You?)

If you’ve been reading the Scripture very long, you likely have a particular verse or passage that has indelibly impacted your walk with Christ. Hopefully, you have more than a few. One of mine is Mark 10:45. In an effort to defuse the conflict that erupted between his disciples when James and John asked to sit at Jesus’ right and left hand in eternity, Jesus states plainly, “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for...

Improving Your Serve

I’m not sure if you follow tennis, but the oldest and most prestigious tennis tournament in the world, Wimbledon, was just completed. Novak Djokovic and Elena Rybakina won the men’s and women’s finals, respectively. You might be amazed that over the course of the event more than 237,000 people attend, 23,630 pizzas are served, over 50,000 plants are on display, and players have to follow a “predominately in white rule” in regard to their clothing and accessories. How about the...

Or, to put it another way, to use your Spiritual gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality, and Experiences in one area of passion and one area of need. This culminated in a brief Ingleside Serving Survey where many of you provided us...

Improving Your Serve

I’m not sure if you follow tennis, but the oldest and most prestigious tennis tournament in the world, Wimbledon, is well underway this week. You might be amazed that over the course of the event more than 473,000 people attend, 23,630 pizzas are served, over 50,000 plants are on display, and that players have to follow a “predominately in white rule” in regard to their clothing and accessories. How about the fact that the fastest serve ever at Wimbledon was in 2010 when...

Be Like Jesus – Serve Others!

In 1991, Gatorade initiated a brilliant marketing campaign featuring basketball great Michael Jordan. With an original theme song, depictions of everyday people imitating his moves, and Jordan drinking the sports drink, the commercial ended with the statement, “Be like Mike. Drink Gatorade.” Virtually every kid in America (and a few adults!) wanted to be “like Mike.” Are you aware there is a key to being “like Jesus”? It is found here: “…But whoever would be great among...
