Gratitude for Jay and Evelyn Anne Turner

Gratitude for Jay and Evelyn Anne Turner We will celebrate with Jay and Evelyn Anne Turner this Sunday as Jay retires as our Traditional Worship Arts Pastor after ten years of faithful and fruitful service on our team. Only eternity will reveal all who have been touched and blessed by Jay’s ministry of music, by his care and compassion, and by his personal investment in the lives of so many. I hope you will plan to participate in a drop-in reception honoring the Turners from 4:00...

A Fabulous Fall

Cooler air.  Shorter days.  Leaves soon will be lighting up the landscape with brilliant color reflecting the glory of the Creator. These are all sure signs that autumn is upon us.  Indeed, the first official day of fall was yesterday – September 22. As we prepare to make our way through the last quarter of the year, I want to make sure that some key dates and events at Ingleside are on your radar. Of course, our weekly worship services, classes, and groups – especially on...

Back to School, Back to Church

Now that summer rhythms are giving way to school schedules, make sure that Sunday worship is in your weekly routine. Scripture is clear: God is honored, and we benefit when we gather with other believers to worship (cf. Hebrews 10:24-25). I’m looking forward to being back in worship with our church family this Sunday, August 15, and I hope to see you too! From Attender to Member If you’ve been attending Ingleside for a while, I encourage you to take the next step and commit to...

Answering the Call

On Sunday, June 27, Pastor Tim capped off a seven-part series on serving with a challenge to everyone in our body. That challenge was to increase our church’s serving quotient by asking Inglesiders to volunteer in a primary and secondary place of ministry. Or, to put it another way, to use your Spiritual gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality, and Experiences in one area of passion and one area of need. This culminated in a brief Ingleside Serving Survey where many of you provided us...

Is Your Vision Big Enough?

It’s all too easy for our perspective on life to become too tightly focused. The legitimate, daily demands of family, work, and school can become all-consuming. Even in our spiritual lives, we can lose sight of the bigger picture. That’s why it’s good for us to be reminded that God is at work all around the world. Truth be told, we all need to be challenged to look beyond our usual horizons and consider how God would have us to be involved personally in his global mission...

Membership and Missions: Options this Month

Church membership is biblical.  As the Apostle Paul wrote to the church at Corinth:  “Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it” (1 Corinthians 12:27, ESV; cf. Romans 12:4-5). Membership is a way of saying:  “I’m committed to Jesus and to his body, the church.  You can count on me to use my gifts for the good of others in this church family.  I will worship, grow, serve, give, and go with the gospel alongside others in this church family.  I’m...

Going with the Gospel

God expects every follower of Jesus Christ to be involved in going with the gospel. Before he ascended to heaven, Jesus said: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20, ESV). Similarly, in Acts 1:8, Jesus said: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has...

Grateful for 30 Years!

Not many churches and pastors – the data suggests fewer than 3.5% -- have the privilege of doing what we have done over the past few days as we have marked a 30-year ministry milestone together. As Beverly and I reflect on this three-decade journey and the celebration of the last week, our hearts are filled to overflowing with gratitude.  We are eager to say with the Psalmist that the Lord has “dealt bountifully” with us (Psalm 13:6, ESV).  We know that from start to finish it is...

Calling All Students and Educators

This Sunday, August 18, we will be recognizing and praying over all the students and educators in each of our Sunday morning services at Ingleside. So, no matter what your grade or degree program, and no matter what your role is as an educator (teacher, administrator, coach, counselor, professor, etc.) – I hope you will make plans now to join us. Services are at 8:30 a.m. in our Chapel (traditional), 9:40 and 11:00 a.m. in our Worship Center (blended), and at 11:00 a.m. in our...

Going with the Gospel…All Summer Long

Though we send Inglesiders to go with the gospel throughout the year, the summer affords us several unique mission opportunities. I know you will celebrate with me that the gospel was proclaimed in the following places around the world: Myrtle Beach – Our Student Sessions choir of 49 students and leaders shared the gospel through outdoor concerts and an arts camp held at a local church. Macon – 48 high school students and leaders did gospel-sharing ministry in our city for a...
