A New Role for Deacons at Ingleside

I hope you will join me this Sunday afternoon, January 29, at 4:00 p.m. in Room W-200 for a Town Meeting to hear about a proposed new role for Deacons at Ingleside. Our Overseers are proposing that we revise our Church Bylaws so that “the primary responsibility of the Deacon Ministry Team shall be care for and service to widows at Ingleside.” After a thorough study of all the relevant Scripture passages (including Acts 6:1-7; Philippians 1:1; and 1 Timothy 3:8-13), we believe that...

Join Me at the March for Life

I will be the guest speaker at this year’s Macon March for Life, and I hope you will join me at this important event. We will gather with other pro-life Middle-Georgians at Rosa Parks Square in downtown Macon on Friday, January 20, at noon. After a brief program, there will be a silent march for life through downtown ending at The Kolbe Center at 833 Walnut Street. Join Me for the Q&A?

Join Me for the Q&A? Maybe somewhere along the way you were told that your honest doubts and questions could never be voiced – especially about matters of faith and especially at church. Well, if it ever was true before, it’s no longer the case at Ingleside. This past week about 150 folks participated in our first Q&A. So, again this Sunday, April 2, immediately after the close of our 11:00 a.m. services, I will host a 30 minute question & answer session in our...

Back to School, Back to Church

By this point in the month of August almost every school in our region is back in session.  For many Ingleside families the rhythms of summer are giving way to the more structured cadences of a new school year. I hope part of your pattern this fall will be regular participation in worship at Ingleside.  So, if your schedule has kept you away more than usual this summer, I hope to see you back at church on Sunday! I’ll be sharing the second message in a series called, The Pursuit of...

We are reading the Word together at Ingleside – a chapter a day!  Have you joined us yet? Today’s reading is 1 Corinthians chapter 15.  Tomorrow we finish up 1 Corinthians by reading chapter 16, and then on Saturday, we read 2 Corinthians chapter 1. God uses a daily diet of reading and meditating on the Scripture to give us wisdom and discernment about how to live in ways that please him. Have you developed this healthy habit yet?  Start reading with us today, and encourage...

Witness: Adventures in Acts

This past Sunday, I began a new, five-part series of Sunday morning messages at Ingleside entitled, Witness: Adventures in Acts. As we began, we noted that Acts 1:8 provides the overall outline and primary theme of the entire book.  It’s really a verse that every Christ-follower should have memorized.   Do you remember what it says? After forty days of post-resurrection appearances and before he ascended to the Father, Jesus said this to his disciples: “But you will receive...

Have You Heard?

It’s what we say when news breaks.  It’s what we ask when the extraordinary occurs.  It’s what we say when we want someone we care about to be in the know.  It’s what we ask when we want to make sure that someone we love doesn’t miss the message. When you look at what the Bible says about the birth of Jesus Christ, you discover that the message of his coming was largely delivered by angels – the angels of Christmas. So, over the coming five Sunday mornings at Ingleside we...
