A School Year Like No Other

Across the coming month or so, we’ll see every school at every level re-start with in-person, remote, and hybrid models on the table. With most students not being in a classroom setting for almost five months now, the next four or five weeks are sure to be an experiment!

You may not be approaching this coming fall like you have others. In previous years, you’ve not had to ask questions like:

  • How many masks should I send with my child to school?
  • What will our school do when someone gets a fever or tests positive for COVID-19?
  • Will I have to help educate my grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or neighbors this year?
  • Do we have the right devices to engage in virtual learning?
  • Will my child’s education suffer?
  • How will school calendars and patterns affect my work?

Amidst the turmoil of beginning school with great uncertainty, I hope you will maintain healthy habits of worship and discipleship. Following Jesus closely and leading your family to do the same will give you the fortitude to carry on. The words of Paul to the Corinthian church are just as poignant to us today when he said, “…be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord…” (I Corinthians 15:58).

I hope you will stay connected to Ingleside as you stoke your own spiritual fires and the fires of those you love. Here are a few items you can know about and pray for:

  1. Worship – We think it wise to continue in-person, reservation-only worship services at 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. through Sunday, September 6. We’ll maintain social distancing, strongly encourage face coverings, and maintain increased sanitation. You can learn more details and make your reservation here. Of course, if you are not yet ready to return, you can join us by livestream at 11:00 a.m. We plan to continue our livestream for the foreseeable future.
  2. Growing in a Group – Would you like to find a Bible study or small group to join? Hundreds of Inglesiders meet weekly at various times and in various ways to learn from God’s Word together. Just fill out this form, and someone from our Discipleship Office will help you find just the right group for you.
  3. Preschool Ministry – We plan to offer programming for preschoolers beginning Sunday, August 23, at both the 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. services. Space will be limited and by reservation only. Check-in will be touchless, spaces will be routinely sanitized, and staff and volunteers will wear face coverings. More details about how to sign your preschooler up are forthcoming.
  4. Weekday Programs – Our Mother’s Morning Out (6 weeks – 2K) and Weekday Preschool (2K – 5K) plan to open for their first day of school this Monday, August 10. We’ll take all the appropriate cautions dictated by Georgia’s Department of Early Care and Learning (Bright from the Start). We look forward to welcoming these little ones back to our campus as well as sharing the love of Jesus with their families.

As you would imagine, we are evaluating every other facet of ministry. As new opportunities emerge to Come, Grow, Serve, and Go, we will ensure the details are communicated in timely and clear ways.

In the meantime, consider joining us for an in-person worship service soon. Our gatherings in the Worship Center have been Spirit-filled, authentic in character, and an excellent step in the right direction. If you are able, I hope to see you this Sunday!

In the Spirit,
