I hope you will pause today personally to give thanks to God through Jesus Christ for all the “good gifts” that have come to you from his gracious hand.
For as the Scripture says: “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights” (James 1:17, ESV). He is indeed the “fount of every blessing!”
The hymn-writer, Johnson Oatman, Jr., has challenged us well: “Count your many blessings, name them one by one; And it will surprise you what the Lord has done.”
And, if you get to gather with family, make sure to recount briefly and out loud how God has provided. Don’t leave the Lord unacknowledged. Lead your family to remember God’s goodness and to celebrate his faithfulness. Then, as a family, give thanks to God.
The Apostle Paul gives us great instruction for today. He says, “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him” (Colossians 3:17, ESV).
The Lord we love and serve is a good God. And the Scripture tells us that we should: “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever” (Psalm 136:1, ESV).
So, please know on this Thanksgiving Day that I give thanks to God through Jesus Christ for you! I am thankful to be on this journey with you. I am grateful for your friendship and partnership in the gospel.
I celebrate with you all that God has done among us across the years. And, I remain convinced that the best is yet to come!
Again, Happy Thanksgiving!
