What better way to begin the New Year than to gather in worship with your church family?
This Sunday, January 1, 2017, we plan to have one service only at 10:30 a.m. in the Worship Center at Ingleside.
The warm invitation of Psalm 95 is in my heart and mind as I write this morning:

It doesn’t happen very often. In fact, the last two times it occurred were in 2005 and 2011. The next time will be in 2022, and after that not until 2033 and then 2039.
What is this rare occasion? It’s when Christmas Day—December 25—falls on a Sunday.
And, you may have heard that some churches are not having worship gatherings that day. In fact, however, while they may make the news, those that cancel are part of a small minority.

Every journey is defined by significant markers along the way. This Sunday, December 18, we will mark 65 years since the day our church was officially begun.
When the Charter Member Scroll was closed on December 23, 1951, Ingleside was officially constituted with 203 members. Today our membership stands at more than 4,600 members.

There may well be no better time to introduce a friend to Ingleside than at Christmas. So, I hope you will ask the Lord about whom you should invite. Then, make the call, or send the text or email. Your personal invitation could make all the difference.

At Christmas we celebrate the birth of Jesus, who said: “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12, ESV).

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you and your family have a great day remembering and celebrating the goodness and faithfulness of God.
As you give thanks today, be sure and follow the formula we find in Scripture for genuine thanksgiving. It goes like this:
To + Through + For = Real Thanksgiving
We see this pattern clearly in the Apostle Paul’s words to the believers in Rome when he wrote: “First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you” (Romans 1:8).

I made a mistake. I’m sorry.
Sometimes when you lead a group, someone on your team makes an error. And, if you are a good leader, you take responsibility for your team and say, “We made a mistake. I’m sorry.”
In this instance, however, there was no “we” involved. I made the mistake. It’s my responsibility, and I’m sorry.

If you are in town on Tuesday night, November 22, plan now to be part of a great Thanksgiving meal and worship service at Ingleside.
The buffet meal (which includes turkey, dressing, and all the trimmings) begins at 5:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall, Dining Room, and Multi-Purpose Gym and will be served until 6:45 p.m. It’s $7 for adults, $5 for children, and a $21 maximum for a family.

If you watched the Chicago Cubs win the World Series this week, you know that it’s possible to give a summary in a few numbers.
